How You Can Find Your Small Business Goldmine
There is something you have to realize once and for all: No matter how you are trying to market your business, the money is in the list. This means you need to collect a list of people who are interested in your product or service and who respond to your magnet offer. You need to build your list.
Research is showing us that buying patterns are changing. People used to buy in store or respond to advertising. Now they want information first before they buy. Before, they were happy to buy from strangers. Now, they prefer buying from people they know and trust. There is a lesson for you in here: You need to provide that information and build that trust. The way to do both is through reports, articles, newsletters and online videos. The steady flow of information is what will build trust with your prospects.
The more information you provide, the more trust you build with people, the more sales you will make period. So the old saying that the money is in the list or rather, the relationship you build with those on your list, still rings true.
When you build your list, you should not make them sales offers. People hate to be sold. It is important that they make the decision to buy without being pushed. The old “pushy” way of selling is almost totally out-dated. When clients feel they found you and they made the decision to buy, it is much better because then you will have no “buyer’s remorse” and your client will feel happy with his or her purchase. It is better to discuss their problems and offer them solutions.
I know a nutritionist who started building a list. She has a free offer as her “magnet” to attract people to her. Then she set up an autoresponder, each with an article she wrote about a real case study of a client and his or her problem, usually a digestion related problem. Then she tells you in graphic detail what happened inside the client’s gut to cause his or her problem. She then offers her solution: a special diet. Then she finishes her article with a testimonial of a client who followed this diet reporting their miraculous recovery. Apparently she has a list of over 200,000 people. And every time she sends out an email, she sells over 20 copies of her diet book.
Another doctor I know of has a list of over 1 million subscribers. He sends out articles on various conditions and offers their cures. Guess how many products he sells every time he sends out his newsletter?
