What is a Conversion Funnel?
A conversion funnel is the process through which a business takes a prospect that converts him from prospect to sale. If you are serious about making your business successful online, you will have to learn how to create and implement your own funnels.
Why do you need conversion funnels?
If someone lands on your website, he or she usually doesn’t know you. People usually buy from someone they like and trust. Nowadays people first research things on the internet. Once they feel they know you, then they might buy. It is therefore essential that you build a relationship with them.
But how do you do it?
Have you ever heard of lead nurturing?
Most customers aren’t ready to buy from you right off the bat as we’ve discussed above. They simply don’t know you. They also don’t trust you. You have to slowly build a relationship with them. This is called Lead Nurturing. Once they come to your website they are going to forget about you as soon as they click away. It is therefore necessary to capture their details as soon as they land on your website. Why are they there? Why have they clicked through to your website? Chances are they are looking for something. When people come to my website, they are looking for help with their marketing. So I offer them something that they can read on the topic. Then they go into my autoresponder and I send them an article every week.
So I keep in touch with them. Every week, I let them know that I am still here. I discuss a new topic on Internet Marketing with them, and I invite them to contact me should they need help. This is the way you nurture them. When they feel ready to take action, who are they going to think about? Who are they going to contact? Yes, me!

The 7 Step Process
There is a 7 step process to your funnel. It looks like this:
It is at this point that most people get stuck. When your prospects land on your website. There must be something there for them to welcome them. An offer or a “Welcome” at least. An offer is better. Think of it as a “Magnet Offer”. An offer that will attract the prospect to you. Something that stops him cold in his tracks, and saying: I need this. You therefore need a headline that can do this. You have 2 seconds to capture him before he’s gone.
Next, you need a sign-up box to capture his name and email address. This will add him to your autoresponder where you will be able to nurture him. This is your chance to have the prospect get to know, like and trust you. If you do this right, you will always have sales.
The sale will come through your email sequence. It will lead them back to your site where they will buy. It is better to have a low priced product. Once they see the quality of your product, and once they experience what it is like to do business with you, you can offer them a higher priced product.
Deliver and Wow
This is your chance to shine. The better you do this, the better the relationship will be between you and your customer. Will they talk about and share the experience? You bet!
Now you can sell your high priced product. Or a medium first and then the high priced one. Whatever you do make sure the customer is still feeling a wow.
The last step is to get referrals. This should have an incentive for the customer so they want to give you as many as they can. It doesn’t need to be expensive. It just needs to be good. Something like a free coffee from Starbucks. Or a $5 gift voucher from a popular store. It could even be a trial of something or a sample. Your customer just needs to feel valued.
You need to be able to write persuasively. How does a salesperson sell your product or service? That’s how you need to write. If you can’t write well, you need to engage the services of a copywriter.
